Lockheed Martin Canada Awarded Dalhousie University’s Legacy Employer of the Year
At Lockheed Martin Canada, we are proud to be mentoring the next generation of technology and STEM professionals, which is reflected in the challenging and complex co-op opportunities we offer across the country. This year, we were thrilled to receive Dalhousie University’s Legacy Employer of the Year award, recognizing employers who have been active and supportive in Dalhousie’s co-op programs.
This award, presented during the 2024 Dalhousie Top Co-op Students and Employers of the Year event, celebrates Lockheed Martin Canada’s 18-year commitment to Dalhousie’s co-op programs.
With over 425 employees in the Halifax region, Lockheed Martin Canada has been an active participant in Dalhousie’s co-op programs since 2007. The co-op program originally started with hiring 2 or 3 students each term. Now, we’re proud to say the program has expanded to offer 20 students a position per work term.
Over the years, the program has evolved to include multiple academic backgrounds. Lockheed Martin Canada initially hired Computer Science and Electrical Engineering students and expanded to include other Engineering disciplines like Mechanical and Industrial, and business students. We have also recently extended our interest to science co-op students in Mathematics and Physics.
Since the beginning of this partnership with Dalhousie University, our goal was to become the Employer of Choice for students, while delivering opportunities and job growth in the region –we are now incredibly proud to have received this recognition.
To date, our teams in Dartmouth have hired over 380 students in co-op work terms. Working side by side with knowledgeable and experienced professionals, students gain real-world experience and contribute to some of the world’s most challenging projects. Feedback from students has consistently validated our efforts:

Thank you to Dalhousie University for this recognition and to all our co-op students and mentors who make this work possible. We are excited to continue our partnership and keep developing inspiring and hands-on learning environments for our future generations.
